Our Church teaches that we all have a responsibility in the ministry of the Church by our Baptismal call. In Lumen Gentium we learn that by working with the bishops and clergy, "the faithful who by Baptism are incorporated into Christ, are placed in the People of God, and in their own way share the priestly, prophetic and kingly office of Christ, and to the best of their ability carry on the mission of the whole Christian people in the Church and in the world".
Senior Staff: The King or Leader
A special position of leadership for those individuals that feel a calling to serve God in a special way at The Pines as a leader. The individuals gifts are used the various positions of senior staff to make the experience camper and Christ centered at all times.
Counselor: The Prophet
(Minimum one year out of high school with a high school diploma, or worked SWAT 2008)
At The Pines Catholic Camp the counselor is the person with whom we put the most trust. It is the individual who is responsible for the well being emotionally and physically at all times during the campers experience at The Pines. This person must be fully committed to the teachings of the Catholic faith and have a fun heart ready to make the kids have a wonderful week! This is a position that requires 24/7 ministry and only is for those who are up for a challenge.
SWAT "Servants With A Task" The Priest
(Minimum high school graduate or have completed our C.I.T program summer 2008)
This position's responsibilities include all the behind the scenes jobs that make camp run smoothly. The focus on the work for this team is office work, maintenance, health care assistance, camp store and occasionally activities. The duties rotate during the course of the half summer session. The team lives in gender specific communities and are supervised by the SWAT Coordinator/Assistant Director. The dates for SWAT I are June 6 until July 11th (Weeks 1-5) SWAT session II is July 4- August 8 (weeks 5-9) In order to build the community we have team building events, such as "Night Zip" or "Night Swims".
