John Egan

Camp Director
John a native of New York moved with his wife Ronna and three children, Brendan, Molly and Kiera from North Carolina to Big Sandy in December 2007. John has more than 10 years experience in youth ministry most recently as youth director at St. Leo parish in Winston-Salem North Carolina. John has a BA in English from Marywood College and a Masters degree in Pastoral Ministry from Caldwell College. He plays the bass guitar and loves to incorporate music in all his programming. John and Ronna have always wanted to start a Catholic camp and are overjoyed that they are a part of The Pines family. John's level of energy and passion for youth is contagious. John and Ronna believe in the mission of The Pines and have worked hard to keep the spirit of The Pines alive and growing. The Egans have blessed The Pines with many gifts and talents. Their energy and passion are reflected everyday in the life of camp.
There are many traditions associated with Summer Camp at The Pines and one of those traditions is the Camp Name! Every year returning staff look forward to naming the incoming staff. In addition to the new counselors, The Egan family was also able to take part in this tradition. For the summer time The Egan family can be found answering to the following names: Big Tuna, Tootsie, Captain Awesome, DeeDee and Special K! The Egan family was blessed in November 2009 to introduce another baby girl into the world, Anna Elizabeth Egan. A camp name is still in the works for her.
